A West Point resident provided this tip. The e-mail notices (below) demonstrate how the human race meets itself coming and going with regard to the environment. Add copper to the lakes...then see if you can get it all out before it gets inside the house.
Gooneybird's Lake Restoration Processes drop out the suspended metals such as the copper, lead, iron and manganese that entrain into suspended algae. First it de-stratifies the lake by evening the temperature of the water top to bottom...which settles the heavy metals to the bottom. Then it digests the muck made of decaying biological matter such as dead algae and pondweeds. The result is an oxygenated ecology throughout the lake that greatly improves the vigor and health of the aquatic creatures.
It takes one pound of phosphate to generate 3,000 pounds of algae...or 80 pounds
of fish. Gooneybird's process takes it away from the algae and weeds and
makes it available to the fish via the natural food chain.
Popolopen Lake, New York
Popolopen Lake is on Popolopen Creek in Orange County, New York and is used for drinking water and recreation purposes. It was built in 1948. It has a normal surface area of 147 acres. It is owned by U.S. Military Academy.Popolopen Lake Dam, also known as Popolopen Lake is of earthen construction, concrete, masonry. The foundation is assumed to be unlisted or unknown. Its height is 32 feet with a length of 242 feet. Its capacity is 1173 acre feet. Normal storage is 1173 acre feet.
This is a rough estimate of the compressor equipment, tubing, enzymes and micro-organisms necessary for maintaining a thoroughly aerobic ecology throughout the lake while digesting the muck in the bottom over a period of time without the use of chemicals, including copper sulfate. See photo and design above.
